چکیده

Method A retrospective blind study was conducted evaluating 395 coronary angiographies, from January 2013 to August 2014. The insertion criteria was the angiography of all patients under investigation for coronary disease. The exclusion criteria were the angiographies of patients that already had any type ofpercutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PCI) or coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). The angiographies were evaluated and classified according the SS, in group A (score ≥ 22), B (score 23-32) and C (score ≤ 32). An independent blind observer checked the type of treatment performed and the percentage of each of those three groups.

A Dutch perspective on the ESC/EACTS guidelines on myocardial revascularisation

The guidelines state a class III level of evidence (LoE) B recommendation against percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with left main disease with a high SYNTAX score (> 32) and three-vessel disease with intermediate (23–32) and high SYNTAX scores. There appears to be insufficient evidence to support this recommendation, given the fact that this is based on only one trial (SYNTA...

Physiology-guided myocardial revascularisation in complex multivessel coronary artery disease: beyond the 2014 ESC/EACTS guidelines on myocardial revascularisation

For patients with multivessel coronary artery disease there are two options for revascularisation: Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery (CABG). In daily clinical practice, a heart team consisting of an interventional cardiologist and a cardiothoracic surgeon decide on the most appropriate mode of revascularization. The current European guidelines on m...

Potential Utility of the SYNTAX Score 2 in Patients Undergoing Left Main Angioplasty

BACKGROUND The revascularization strategy of the left main disease is determinant for clinical outcomes. OBJECTIVE We sought to 1) validate and compare the performance of the SYNTAX Score 1 and 2 for predicting major cardiovascular events at 4 years in patients who underwent unprotected left main angioplasty and 2) evaluate the long-term outcome according to the SYNTAX score 2-recommended rev...
